2009 Republic of Korea and IOM sign an agreement on the creation of a Migration Research and Training Centre.
2007 IOM Seoul Office becomes IOM Mission in Korea
Since then, IOM Seoul has consistently co-operated with Government parts, Research Institutes, Non-governmental Organizations in order to conduct research on a various form of migration to Korea, the relationship between Korea and Migrants origin of countries. In addition, IOM Seoul operates projects of facilitating migration with other overseas IOM offices for migrants before departure from home and after arriving in Korea and also, works for emergency relief and protection of trafficked people.
2005 Republic of Korea and IOM sign a Cooperation Agreement on the status of IOM in Republic of Korea territories.
2000 IOM Seoul conducts research in order to support Korean Governments migration policy on labour migration and counter-trafficking.
IOM Seoul holds training progammes and international conference on migration policy.
1999 Opening of IOM Seoul office (1 April)
1991 IOM Seoul launches its activities in Korea as providing assistance for Vietnamese refugees moving to North America
1988 Republic of Korea becomes a member state of IOM
